“There is no separation of mind, body and emotions in maintaining health.”
Gulnara K. LaFrance

In my practice, I emphasize four major factors of health:

  1. Emotions: the mind/body relationship
Based on Chinese medicine, when we are under everyday stress (work, kids, spouses, finances, dietary irregularities) or experiencing negative emotions (anger, fear, resentment, loneliness, grief) the energy of our body stops flowing, or flows in opposite directions, leading to internal imbalances; for example:
    • prolonged anger disturbs the flow of liver energy, leading to hypertension, insomnia, fatigue, and weight gain
    • chronic fear affects kidney energy by stagnating its natural flow, which can cause lower back pain, low sex drive, impotance, and infertility
With specific acupuncture techniques, the flow of energy can be restored, organ functions promoted, and negative emotions or thinking released — all of which prevents development of illnesses.
  2. Hormonal state: functions of female and male organs and efficient hormonal production
Hormonal balance is our normal state. About 80% of women experience symptoms of hormonal imbalances: depression, anxiety, mood swings, libido. Existence of these symptoms make us feel unwanted, we lose interest in everyday activities and communications with our significant ones. Many men in their forties suffer from infertility and have sexual problems that need to be addressed immediately. With Chinese herbs and acupuncture there is hope—through a natural approach that works on the underlying causes.
  3. Detoxification: external and internal toxins
Toxins (anything your body interprets as harmful or stressful) enter your system in many ways, not just through your mouth. Everything we breathe or absorb through our skin, eyes and ears can be beneficial or harmful to our system. Environmental toxins (pollution, chemicals in water and food, processed food, pesticides, genetically altered foods, personal care products, radiation and drugs) are not only changing our ozone layer, plant species and animals, but humans as well — leading to autoimmune disorders, allergies, impotance, chronic fatigue, and cancer, and are a common link to many other disorders. Through Chinese herbs and acupuncture, dietary recommendations based on individual body constitution, and detoxification, we can free up your immune system, quiet inflammations, and prevent illnesses.

  4. Supplementation with Chinese herbs and Western nutrition
It is essential to understand how Western nutrition (multivitamins, probiotics, essential fatty acids, etc.) can help treat and prevent imbalances and promote well being. Supplementation with Chinese herbs helps to enhance organ functions by promoting energy production. Learning to balance the energetic properties of foods you consume can subside symptoms of imbalances by 30-60%.
